From Silos to Synergy: A Comprehensive Scoping Review of IT and Business Partnership

In today’s rapidly evolving digital landscape, IT plays a critical role in business transformation. Effective IT-Business partnerships are critical for maximizing IT value and maintaining competitiveness. This study conducts a scoping review of leading IS journals using grounded theory to examine how such partnerships are conceptualized, implemented, and evolved. By analyzing the interactions between IT and business departments, the research identifies key factors that contribute to successful collaboration and outlines best practices for improving IT and business integration. The findings provide insights into how organizations can align IT investments with business objectives, ensuring that IT-driven initiatives translate into tangible business value. This study advances the understanding of IT-enabled business transformation and offers practical guidance for fostering stronger IT-Business partnerships.
