Ethical Considerations of Artificial Intelligence in Information Systems
Enitan Adeniji, Jervis Ebehi Ohikhuare, Emmanuel Aluyor, Daniel O.T. Ihenacho
Artificial Intelligence has been greatly influenced by various sectors including information systems, making them more efficient, productive, improving personalized user experiences (Konda, 2022). The adoption of AI across businesses has also grown significantly reducing the run-time of business processes and workflows, promoting innovation and competitiveness. However, for a technology this robust, it also has its pitfalls.
The aim of this study is to investigate some of the ethical concerns associated with the integration of AI in data processing and analysis resulting in instances of bias in AI algorithms (Konidena, et al. 2024), job losses due to automation of tasks, user privacy concerns associated with natural language processing as well as its overall impact in the society.
The study will be carried out using literature reviews, surveys, and case studies, proposing strategies to alleviate the risks associated with AI’s deployment in information systems through adherence to AI moral regulations and standards, advocating for fairness, data privacy and transparency in our everyday lives (Riviș-Tipei, 2023).
