Towards Sustainable Digital Transformation: A convergence of sustainability and Digital Transformation
Kembley Lingelbach, A. Karim Feroz
Sustainability and digital transformation, both of which are important and highly relevant megatrends, are forming a convergence. This research paper delves into the intricate dynamics of this convergence, aiming to provide a comprehensive understanding of the factors steering the trajectory toward sustainable digital transformation. Employing a systematic literature review methodology, we scrutinized 114 full-text articles to identify and categorize macro and micro factors influencing the convergence. This study underscores the far-reaching implications of macro-level trends on the broader landscape of sustainable digital transformation, emphasizing the global dimension and the transformative impact of environmentally conscious business models. At the micro level, the study identifies factors such as the digitalization of organizational processes and evolving value propositions as key drivers of convergence. By dissecting these micro factors, the research provides an understanding of the internal mechanisms within organizations fueling the integration of sustainability and digital transformation.
