Robotic Process Automation in Micro-businesses. A Research Plan and Pilot Study
Arkadiusz Januszewski, Jaroslaw Kujawski
This paper outlines a novel research initiative aimed at exploring microbusinesses (MBs) in Poland. The primary objective is to identify accounting and non-accounting processes within MBs that are most susceptible to robotic process automation (RPA) implementation. The planned research is structured into 3 tasks, while the methods applied entail a pilot study already conducted in two MBs: a sport club and a blinds supplier. The research methodology incorporates a literature study, an online survey, semi-structured personal interviews with owners/managers, and a comparative analysis. The ultimate goal is to provide recommendations for viable and feasible RPA applications in accounting and non-accounting processes within MBs. To achieve this goal, the following methods are adopted: an in-flied approach and an expert approach with semi-structured personal interviews with owners/managers for the pilot study, comparative analysis of obtained information, synthesis and deduction. The results of the preliminary pilot study at two MBs are also presented.
