Yonas Fikade, Solomon Negash
Abstract The emergence of blockchain technology is revolutionary and holds the potential to transform both public and private sectors. Through this ongoing study, we aim to explore the current efforts of developing economies in implementing this technology, as well as analyze the opportunities and challenges they face. While there are many benefits to implementing blockchain technology, it remains limited. Therefore, it is crucial to gather evidence to reveal the successes and shortcomings of emerging blockchain initiatives from a range of countries and contexts. This study highlights various cases of blockchain-based initiatives by the Ethiopian government. Continued work and future investigation of this paper will provide significant insights for governments, businesses, and technical experts, thus contributing to the existing pool of knowledge. Keywords: Blockchain, developing economies, Blockchain implementation, challenges.
