Sources and Types of Cybersecurity Fatigue: Impact on Information Disclosure
Shirin Fereidoonian, Stephen Wingreen

In an increasingly digitized world, individuals are frequently exposed to privacy policies, pop-ups, and repetitive complex security tasks online, leading to cybersecurity fatigue. This ongoing research first investigates the sources and types of cybersecurity fatigue as new variables by reviewing the previous literature. Consequently, it proposes a conceptual model and hypothesizes how cybersecurity fatigue sources, mediated by types, may influence information disclosure as a research gap. Research design and future steps like data gathering and experimental methods are suggested. Besides, analytical methods for testing the variables are recommended. This study highlights the importance of comprehensively understanding cybersecurity fatigue elements and their role in shaping online disclosure behaviors. It underscores the need for future interventions to mitigate adverse effects.
