Competencies for Digital Innovations – A Literature Review and Opportunities for Future Research
Mathias Bohrer
To drive digital change initiatives, organizations must possess organizational capabilities to handle digital innovations. This is achieved by developing and enabling competence profiles from an organization's employee base. Empirical findings on competencies for digital innovations in Information Systems research remain disconnected. Consequently, this study utilized a systematic literature review to address this gap. Hereby, this study illustrates the significance of competencies in IS and highlights relevant competencies and competence categories deemed relevant for DIs. Moreover, this paper investigates the link between individual competencies and organizational capabilities, presents opportunities for research exploration, and provides valuable insights for scholars and practitioners on managing and developing competencies.
