An Assessment of the Impact of ‘Key Issues’ Research on IS/IT Scholarly Publications: An Initial Exploration
Jon Beard, Dr. Tim O. Peterson
One characteristic for a rapidly evolving field of study is for there to be some discussion about and exploration of key issues or topics for research and practice. This cataloging of these topics of interest can provide a “useful framework” that helps in identifying some structure for the domain and providing guidance on important topics and challenges that are of concern to the practitioners and researchers who contributed. Further, the topics identified can guide attention for research to help address and improve upon the identified challenges, as well as guidance on curriculum and course development in academic institutions. The research reported here is an initial exploration of how these catalogs may be guiding research on these “key issues,” in IS/IT research and practice.
