Corporate Communications, FOMO and Cyberslacking
Derrick Ganye
Cyberslacking is a behavior that has been found to take valuable productive hours of employees leading to loss of productivity. However, with the pervasiveness of social media and the constant desire of many individuals to be present online, this research investigates how fear of missing out (FOMO) can influence cyberslacking and the resultant effect on job performance. Furthermore, the paper also looks at how some organizational factors that have been overlooked such as corporate communication and work environment influence cyberslacking. Proposed methodology and research contributions are also discussed.
