Explaining the Adoption of People Analytics in European Companies: An Extension of the Technology-Organization-Environment Framework
Sindi Biba, Bastian Brechtelsbauer, Sven Laumer
Advanced people analytics (PA) offers significant potential for enhancing decision-making in human resources management. Despite its potential, PA adoption remains limited, with most implementation examples concentrated in large, U.S.-based firms. Consequently, research on its adoption is predominantly focused on these organizations. Hence, this paper addresses the gap in empirical research by adapting the Technology-Organization-Environment (TOE) framework to explore the factors influencing PA adoption in workforce management, particularly within European companies of varying sizes. Given the distinct cultural and legal environments between the U.S. and the EU, the study aims to identify key factors of PA adoption in Europe, contributing to a deeper understanding of its potential for broader application.
